Cal North's U12-U13 State Cup is an open competition for any U12 and U13 team registered with a Cal North affiliated league and that participated in a Cal North approved playing league. It is the highest level of cup competition offered and is open to any Competitive or Recreational level team but it is primarily geared to provide cup competition for the upper-to-high level competitive teams that compete at the Premier or Gold level in league play (including CCSL and CRL). Competition begins with a weekend of preliminary round games on March 1-2, 2014 and for advancing teams continues over the course of subsequent weekends of single elimination round competition. State Cup culminates with the Cal North State Cup Championships where the state champions are honored with team recognitions and individual awards. State Cup is the state-level qualifier for the US Youth Soccer National Championship series which is widely considered to be the nation’s premier youth soccer competition. State Cup champions and selected wild cards will go on to represent Cal North in the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships against teams from the 14 western region State Associations. Regional Champions advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships in the age groups offered by US Youth Soccer. The Cal North State Cup preliminary round games may be scheduled at various venues throughout Northern California. Tentative plans are to schedule preliminary round games at Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center, Cherry Island Soccer Complex outside of Sacramento and/or Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon. Venues and schedules will be determined in late November 2013. The entry fee is $625. Teams that complete their application and/or payment after the 5 PM January 6, 2014 deadline will be placed in the Reserve Pool. Placement in Reserve Pool does not guarantee acceptance to State Cup.
