Cal North U19 State Cup is an open competition for any U19 Cal North Recreational or Competitive team. However, it is the highest level of cup competition offered and it is geared toward mid-to-high level competitive teams that want the challenge of the highest level of competition. In accordance with the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series rules, U19 is the only age group in which there is no pre-requisite for participating in league play. Competition begins with a weekend of preliminary round games. The preliminary round games for U19s will be held on May 17-18. Advancing teams will play single elimination round competition, including championships, the following weekend. State Cup culminates with the Cal North State Cup Championships where the state champions are honored with team recognitions and individual awards. State Cup is the state-level qualifier for the US Youth Soccer National Championship series which is widely considered to be the nation’s premier youth soccer competition. State Cup champions and selected wild cards will go on to represent Cal North in the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships against teams from the 14 western region State Associations. Regional Champions advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships in the age groups offered by US Youth Soccer. The Cal North State Cup preliminary round games may be scheduled at various venues throughout Northern California. Tentative plans are to schedule preliminary round games at Cherry Island Soccer Complex outside of Sacramento and/or Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon. Schedule and venues will be announced in April. The entry fee is $625. Teams that complete their application and/or payment after the 5 PM April 1, 2014 deadline will be placed in the Reserve Pool. Placement in Reserve Pool does not guarantee acceptance to State Cup.
