The Framingham United Soccer Club is proud to host the 33rd annual Memorial Day Classic. Our tournament has a two day format that leaves Monday to enjoy the holiday. The Memorial Day Classic is a competitive tournament held each year for teams who have come from all over New England and New York. We are dedicated and strive to showcase top quality play with a strong emphasis on being good sports. An award is given to one team in each level of play (one for boys and one for girls) who displays the best attitude and sportsmanship during the tournament. We invite you to share in what we know will be a great tournament experience for you and your players this Memorial Day weekend. The registration deadline is Sunday - May 4, 2014 with initial team placement to follow the week of May 11, 2014. ALL TEAMS REGISTERING AFTER MAY 4TH WITH BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST TO FILL AVAILABLE SLOTS. Our experienced and well-organized tournament committee is regularly complimented by those who play in the tournament each year. The committee and our volunteers are dedicated to making your clubs participation an enjoyment for all. In 2013, we provided quality, competitive play for 108 teams. Framingham, MA is easy to get to with 2 exits on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The town is a regional center with excellent shopping, an expansive Natick Mall, restaurants and hotels. It has great access to Boston for after-game touring. Our tournament will be accepting both girls and boys soccer teams in the following age groups: U9, U10, U11, U12 and U14. Our tournament is a patch tournament where teams will exchange their club patch, pin or other memorabilia with another player of the opposing team after each regulation game. The U9 and U10 teams will play a 6v6 format with 4 games guaranteed. Age appropriate goal sizes are used at this level and all games are two, 25-minute halves! Participation awards will be given after the final game on Sunday. The U11 and U12 teams will play an 8v8 format with 3 games guaranteed. These games will be played on Saturday and Sunday with age appropriate goal sizes. All three games will have two, 25-minute halves! The playoffs (if qualified) will be played on Sunday. Playoff games are two, 30-minute halves with overtime and PK's if necessary. Trophies will be awarded to all runners-up and champions. The U14 teams will play an 11v11 format with 3 games guaranteed. These games will be played on Saturday and Sunday with age appropriate goal sizes. All three games will have two, 25-minute halves! The playoffs (if qualified) will be played on Sunday. Playoff games are two, 30-minute halves with overtime and PK's if necessary. Trophies will be awarded to all runners-up and champions.
