The system of play 1-3-5-1-1. Attacking phase.

After last month analyzing the defensive aspect of 1-3-5-1-1, we will see how we can develop an effective attacking phase with the same game play. The initial set-up of 1-3-5-1-1, with two forwards placed vertically together, apparently leads us to think we have a single attacking reference. But actually it provides two references, one more than what happens with the 1-3-5-2. In fact, while in the 1-3-5-2 the two forwards playing horizontally, are arranged at the same height, this only provides a single point of reference. In the 1-3-5-1-1 the forwards are staggered, giving the team two attacking references, to whom to direct the ball

Attacking play along the wings

One of the most successful ways to beat a tight defence is playing with width, using the side channels.. And one of the best systems is the use of the cross. The fact that one of the most disappointing teams of the 2013/14 season, namely, Manchester United managed by the Scot David Moyes, very often used this tactic is not sufficient to underestimate the importance of this medium, which is essential for creating scoring opportunities. While it is true that Manchester United frequently used this type of attack, it is equally true that the teams in the league who had an excellent season, also resorted to using the as a weapon to open up opposing defences.
