Hello Soccer Friends, Directors, Coaches, Managers, Players, I hope this email finds you well and safe. We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 and working behind the scenes to plan and set up our tournament in the safest way possible. We are going into our 7th year running the CT Rush Columbus Day Challenge. The tournament has grown from 55 teams the first year to 265 teams last year. This year we had an overwhelming interest from CT clubs as well as clubs from PA, NY, MA, NJ, RI. We anticipated over 315 teams this year based on the current interest. I would like to thank everyone for their support! The safety of the players and families is of the most importance to us. The only way we would've moved forward with the tournament this year is if we could've ensured the safety of everyone connected to the event. With all the COVID-19 uncertainty still here and the large group gatherings, we don’t feel we can 100% maintain the safety of all our players and their families. With that being said, I regret to inform you that we will not run the CT Rush Columbus Day Challenge this year. It is my understanding that a lot of other tournaments are canceling as well for this reason. Instead, our club and I know a few other CT clubs will look to schedule 1-2 friendly games over the Columbus day weekend where we can avoid large gatherings and spread the games out more appropriately. We hope to see you again next year October, 9th and 10th 2021 for our annual Columbus Weekend Tournament. I want to wish you all the best of luck this fall and good health! -- Renato Topalli CT Rush Tournament Director
